Chimes
Tom-Toms Like a snare drum, played like a snare drum, but without the snare. Cymbals Interestingly, cymbals can be struck with just about anything: wood, mails, knife blades, saw blades, coins and soft mallets. Cymbals are very versatile and creative and are only limited by the composer, player and teacher's imagination. |
Tam-Tam or the Gong
Tam-tam is a large disc that produces a non-specific pitch. A gong is a pitched instrument with a very pronounced tone. Most often, it's the tam-tam that is needed. Tambourine Tambourines are made of many different materials and come in many different sizes, but the most common is the 10-inch. They can be found with and without heads. A true tambourine has a skin head and is made of wood. Little upkeep is necessary to care for the tambourine. The tambourine can be stuck, shaken, or muffled in many different ways in order to produce many different sounds! Triangle The pitch of a triangle is determined by its size. A "tinkle" sound is the best. |
